TRADITIONAL & WILD

Completed Spring 2024

Build Time

Various Phases totalling 21 weeks

Having previously created a driftwood pergola this client, she asked us to design and construct the outdoor space at her new property in Hampshire.

The brief was to create a mix of naturalistic and formal garden. The large lawn was not required so we used this space to create wildflower islands. In the formal areas, a contemporary cottage planting was used – this gives good height and interest from the terrace and ties across into the wildflower islands.

The existing patio was relatively new and used good quality sandstone, but the build up of the terrace was very poor and had created settlement in the sub-base. The design used clay pavers to break the space into different rooms. A new blockwork quoined wall was built to tie to the house and provide a more substantial backdrop to the terrace.

The key challenge on this project was the construction of a new Oak framed building – This was to be used as a car port, garden store, downstairs gardeners bathroom and an upstairs studio room. This was a large project both in traditional landscaping and the wider project management of all sections.  It required us to bring together multiple subcontractors, planning consultants and building control.
