WEYBRIDGE

CONTEMPORARY COTTAGE

The challenge in this small garden was to create a sense space in a garden dominated by the shed. Our client wanted the space to feel clean and modern, to include a water feature and to be low maintenance.

To do this we designed this angled and contemporary scheme. A statement Corten water feature dominates the space offering strong sound to detract from the surrounding hum of the town. The small sun patio is slightly raised to give create separation from the rest of the garden. Contemporary black slatted screening was used to offer more privacy to the garden, without blocking light. A long single black pergola/arch run gives the garden continuity and hold climbers that will eventually obscure the once dominant shed.

The planting was in our favourite contemporary cottage. Structural grasses and Cornus for winter interest are paired with statuesque perennials. The orange hues of the Corten are picked up from the path edging right through to the Geums, Heleniums and Cornus. This gives the garden contemporary edge and acts as a brightening accent against the muted Black, Greys and Purples.
